Today, the San Carlos Apache Tribe (“Tribe”) announced the presence of the COVID-19 Delta Variant among the members of the neighboring White Mountain Apache Tribe. The Variant is understood as more infectious and deadlier. Chairman meets First Lady and Second Gentleman

The White House invited Tribal leaders from the Tohono O’odham Nation, Gila River Indian Community, Ak-Chin Indian Community, Navajo Nation, and our San Carlos Apache Tribe. Chairman Rambler was very honored to meet with First Lady Jill Biden (wife of President Joe Biden) and Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff (husband of Vice President Kamala Harris) in Phoenix today. He presented an Apache cradleboard to the First Lady and an Apache burden basket to the Second Gentleman. Thank you to the White House for the invite.

According to the SCAT Human Resources Manual, under Employee Benefits, Section 1002 "Holidays", the Tribe will observe Apache Independence Day on Friday, June 18, 2021. Tribal Council approved the recommendation from the TERC committee to rescind the mask mandate for the general public but recommends that unvaccinated individuals continue to wear a mask.
