Forest Open for Wood Harvesting

The Office of the Chairman announced today that the Tribe's Forestry Resources Department has determined the forest roads as "dry" enough to allow tribal member home-use and resale fire wood harvesting in the northern areas of the Forest located on the San Carlos Indian Reservation. The re-opening of the forest shall include areas above the Nantac Rim, including Hilltop, Point of Pines, and Malay Gap Forest Management Units. Please be advised that pursuant to Resolution No. AU-21-121, the Council has mandated COVID-19 vaccinations for all employees of the Tribe’s government and subsidiary enterprises within 45 days, or by September 25, 2021, as a condition of employment. This action was taken upon recommendation of the Tribe’s Emergency Response Commission as a response to the substantial increase in infections, including the presence of the variants, which are more infectious and deadly. Monsoon moisture over the past few weeks has reduced the risk of fire danger. Chairman meets First Lady and Second Gentleman

The White House invited Tribal leaders from the Tohono O’odham Nation, Gila River Indian Community, Ak-Chin Indian Community, Navajo Nation, and our San Carlos Apache Tribe. Chairman Rambler was very honored to meet with First Lady Jill Biden (wife of President Joe Biden) and Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff (husband of Vice President Kamala Harris) in Phoenix today. He presented an Apache cradleboard to the First Lady and an Apache burden basket to the Second Gentleman. Thank you to the White House for the invite.
