The San Carlos Apache Tribe announces that it had received notice on Friday May 28, 2021 from the U.S. Department of Treasury that it had calculated and processed the Tribe’s allocation for the first phase payment to be made from the Coronavirus State and Local Fiscal Recovery Funds (CSLFRF) pursuant to the federal American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA). The allocation totals $79,720,217.40. On May 10, 2021, the U.S. Department of Treasury announced the launch of the Coronavirus State and Local Fiscal Recovery Funds program authorized by the American Rescue Plan Act.  The initiative provides $350 billion in emergency funding for eligible State, Tribal and local governments to help turn the tide on the COVID-19 pandemic, address the economic fallout, and lay the foundation for a strong and equitable recovery. The EBB Program is a Federal Communications Commission(FCC) program that provides a broadband and/or device benefit for qualifying low- income consumers during the COVID-19 pandemic. The total active cases for the Tribe have gone down to zero.  On Monday March 15, 2021, at its special Council meeting, the Council approved TERC’s request to discontinue using the Apache Gold Casino Hotel as an alternate care site due to the stabilization of new infections and the spread of the virus.  This will be effective March 31, 2021.  The Healthcare Corporation advises that everyone needs to continue wearing their masks and practicing cleanliness.  The Tribe hopes to reach herd immunity by April of next month.
